This Blog May Go To My Head.
August 30, 2011
Posted by on What a week this last one has been! Blog-wise at least, there’s been quite a bit of action here in the realm of A&I. While traffic to this little blog has remained steady, there have been a couple of developments that have highlighted to me exactly how head-spinningly precarious the world of blogging can be at times.
I’ll start with the good news first because, to paraphrase one of my favourite bloggers – there’s always a chance I might die before we get to the bad news (thanks Paul, that’s advice I think we can all live by). So here it is:
Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part II
August 26, 2011
Posted by on There’s one thing that is beyond debate: the story of Harry Potter, his friends and enemies has been one of the greatest literary and cinematic achievements of all time. Whether you love it, loathe it or float somewhere in between, there’s no denying that you know SOMETHING about it.
No, I Don’t Work Here. But Please, Ask Me Anyway.

Posted by on While I will never reveal the source of my employment within the pages of this blog, I will tell you all this right now – I do not work at the Brisbane Myer Centre. The events of today, however, make me wonder whether I should rethink that fact.
I’d arranged to have lunch with two friends today in the aforementioned Myer Centre. This central location is a blessing for us all and because we all have different tastes, the variety of the food court is also a boon. Coming from three different offices, we naturally all arrive at different times. Today I was the first to reach our meeting point and as I stood patiently, it happened. Not just once either. Twice – within five minutes. And today’s experiences took the tally to three.
Stage One – Making The Decision.

Posted by on Over the past few weeks I’ve been out of the writing “zone”. I was entangled in a period of contemplation – one of those “What am I doing with my life?” scenes that pop up on many of us from time to time. Or maybe only some of us, I’m not sure. I can really only speak for myself. In a decisive effort to become the change I wish to see in the World I took action. Being the kind of person who approaches things holistically, I naturally needed to start things moving in a few different areas.
‘B’ Is For Bender!
August 8, 2011
Posted by on Three weeks ago I received an invitation to the celebration of a friend’s 30th year of excellence and to mark the occasion he had decided that there would be a fancy dress party. It would be hosted at a bowls club near the city and the theme for costumes was simple – something beginning with ‘B’. After some thought (Bowser, Buzz Lightyear, Boba Fett, Bodyguard, Buccaneer, Batman and Charles Bartowski were just a few ideas), I settled on one character who I thought would be unique to the party – Bender. If you’re unfamiliar with Bender, he’s a character in a TV show called Futurama and he looks like this:
What Happens In The Bedroom…
August 6, 2011
Posted by on If you’re reading this post in the hope that there’s some kind of Einstinian formula for success in the bedroom, here’s what I can give you:
- Relax;
- Communicate;
- Have fun;
- Have a safety word.
That’s all I have.
I’m not here today to talk about sex though. Last night I had an extremely interesting experience and it’s only one example of an apparent string of events in which I have been the central figure. I’m still trying to figure out whether the fact that I have had little to no knowledge of these events makes this story more or less hilarious. I’m going to go with more. Definitely more hilarious.
